History
Established in 1973, the Department of International Trade has evolved through several stages of changes. With the advent of expanding global markets, the focus of the department in its early years was aimed at equipping students with trade skills necessary to gain competitive advantages in the global arena. In more recent years, the trends of economic liberalization, technological developments, and financial innovations, have propelled the Department to redesign its curriculum by expanding courses to cover aspects of finance and international business. The name of the department was changed accordingly to “The Department of International Trade and Finance” in 1998, making it one-of-a-kind in Taiwan. At present, two undergraduate classes are admitted every year. The present chairperson of the department is Dr. Han Chien-Shan, Ph.D.
